Reporting Issues

You can report a wide range of civic and community issues, including but not limited to:

  • Infrastructure: Potholes, broken sidewalks, street light outages, damaged signs
  • Utilities: Water leaks, power outages, drainage problems
  • Sanitation: Trash collection issues, illegal dumping, overflowing bins
  • Public Safety: Unsafe conditions, traffic hazards, security concerns
  • Environmental: Noise complaints, pollution, fallen trees
  • Transportation: Bus shelter damage, bike lane issues, parking concerns

If you're unsure whether your issue can be reported, go ahead and submit it anyway. Our system will analyze it and direct it appropriately.

While our AI can understand casual language, here are some tips for writing effective reports:

  1. Be specific about the location: Mention street names, building numbers, landmarks, or intersections
  2. Describe the issue clearly: What exactly is the problem? When did you notice it?
  3. Include relevant details: Size, duration, potential impacts or hazards
  4. Add photos if possible: Visual evidence helps teams understand the issue better

Example of a good report: "There's a large pothole (about 1 foot wide) in front of 123 Main Street near the bus stop. It's been there for about a week and is getting bigger. Cars have to swerve to avoid it, creating a hazard."

Yes! You can attach up to 5 photos to your report. Visual evidence helps maintenance teams better understand the issue and come prepared with the right tools and materials.

To add photos:

  1. Click on the "Upload Photos" section in the report form
  2. Select photos from your device or take new ones
  3. Add optional captions to explain what each photo shows

For best results, take clear, well-lit photos that show the issue from multiple angles if possible.

Tracking & Updates

When you submit a report, you'll receive a unique reference number. You can use this number to track your report in several ways:

  • Online: Go to the "Check Status" page and enter your reference number
  • Email Updates: If you provided your email, you'll automatically receive status updates
  • SMS: If you opted for SMS notifications, you'll get text updates

The status tracking will show you whether your report is new, in progress, under review, or resolved, along with any notes from the handling team.

HappiCity tracks reports through several status categories:

  • New: Your report has been received and is awaiting initial processing
  • Assigned: Your report has been routed to the responsible department
  • In Progress: Work has started to address the issue
  • Pending: Action is temporarily delayed (reasons will be provided)
  • Resolved: The issue has been fixed or addressed
  • Closed: The case is complete and no further action is planned

Critical issues are flagged for priority handling and may move through the process more quickly.

Resolution times vary depending on:

  • The type and complexity of the issue
  • Current workload of the responsible department
  • Urgency and safety implications
  • Weather conditions (for outdoor repairs)
  • Resource availability

Critical safety issues are typically addressed within 24 hours. Minor maintenance issues may take 3-10 business days. Large projects may take longer and will include progress updates.

You can always check the current status of your report through the tracking system.
